FAQ

Electrolysis is the only FDA-approved method for permanent hair removal. By destroying the hair follicle's growth cells, electrolysis prevents future hair growth in the treated area.

Yes! Electrolysis is safe and effective for all skin tones and all hair types—including blonde, red, gray, and fine hairs that laser can't treat.

The number of sessions varies from person to person and depends on several factors, including the area being treated, your hair type, hormone levels, and how consistently you come in.

Most clients need multiple sessions over 12–24 months to achieve permanent results, because hair grows in cycles—and electrolysis can only treat hairs that are in the active growth phase (anagen stage).

Here’s a general idea:

  • Upper lip or chin: Weekly or biweekly sessions for several months, then tapering off
  • Bikini or underarms: Sessions every 1–2 weeks, with visible reduction after a few months
  • Larger areas (like legs): May take longer due to more follicles and session time

Consistency is key! The more regularly you come in, the faster you'll see progress.

Electrolysis is a safe and FDA-approved treatment when performed by a licensed professional. However, like any skincare procedure, some temporary side effects are normal, including:

  • Redness or swelling in the treated area
  • Tiny scabs or pinpoint crusts, especially on sensitive areas
  • Temporary dryness or flaking

These side effects usually subside within a few hours to a few days.

With proper aftercare, the risk of complications is very low. Following post-treatment instructions—like avoiding sun exposure, not picking at the skin, and keeping the area clean—will help your skin heal smoothly.

In rare cases, if the skin isn't cared for properly, there's a risk of hyperpigmentation, ingrown hairs, or minor scarring, especially for those with sensitive or reactive skin. We'll go over all of this during your consultation to make sure you're a good candidate.

  • Ensure the treatment area has at least 3 days of hair growth before your appointment.
  • Avoid caffeine and alcohol, as they can dehydrate your skin. Instead, drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated and healthy.
  • Discontinue the use of retinols and other harsh skincare products at least one week prior to your appointment.
  • If you have any conditions affecting your heart, skin, blood, or hair or are pregnant, please consult your physician before scheduling your treatment.
  • Arrive with a clean treatment area: no makeup for facial treatments and no deodorant for underarm treatments.
  • All numbing creams or topicals used for numbing must be applied 30 minutes prior to treatment.
  • Showering and clean hair must be done prior to your appointment, or you may be asked to reschedule. You will be responsible for the cost of the missed appointment.
  • Use a cold compress to reduce swelling and redness after treatment.
  • Apply sunscreen to prevent hyperpigmentation following your session.
  • Refrain from rubbing, scratching, or picking at the treated area. It’s normal for small scabs or crusts to form. Do not pick at them; they will naturally heal and fall off during the recovery process. Picking can cause pigmentation or scarring.
  • Avoid using strong or active skincare ingredients for at least 48 hours after a facial treatment.
  • Apply aloe vera or which hazel to calm redness.
  • Do not use products containing alcohol, as they can irritate the skin after treatment.
  • Avoid deodorant for 24 hours after underarm treatments and makeup after facial treatments.
  • If you need to remove hair between treatments, use scissors to clip it or shave. Never pluck, wax, or thread, as these methods can prolong your overall treatment process. For best results, leave the hair untouched until your next appointment. If visible hair is a concern, ask about scheduling more frequent, shorter appointments to manage growth.
  • Avoid hot showers, saunas, & workouts for atleast 48 hours.
